Winter is Coming
As winter looms on the horizon and the weather takes a chilly turn, it’s time to consider How to Safely Store Your Aston Martin and the best way to protect your cherished Aston Martin from the harsh elements. At Aston Store, we understand the importance of safeguarding your investment, and that’s why we’ve meticulously crafted a comprehensive guide on how to securely store your Aston Martin this winter. Discover the key steps and essential items you need to ensure your Aston Martin remains in impeccable condition during the colder months.
Step 1: Assess Your Storage Space
Before you dive into winter car storage, it’s crucial to evaluate your storage space. Whether it’s a garage, storage facility, or a dedicated car storage unit, make sure it’s clean, dry, and secure. Remove any clutter and ensure there are no leaks or drafts that could harm your Aston Martin.
Step 2: Prepare Your Car
Properly preparing your Aston Martin for winter storage is essential. Follow these steps:
1.Clean Thoroughly
Give your Aston Martin a meticulous wash and wax to remove dirt and contaminants. A clean car is less likely to develop rust or other issues during storage. At the Aston Store we stock a handy Clean and Care Kit that contains everything you need to wash and clean your car ahead of storage. If you need help at Nicholas Mee our Service and Aftercare Sales Team have a dedicated Valeting Team that are on hand to help out and advise you. Find out more here
2. Change the Oil
Consider changing the oil and filter to prevent contaminants from sitting in the engine during storage. Our Service and Aftercare Team have put together some great tips and guidance for checking and changing your car oil. Read the full article here
3. Fill Up
Top off your fuel tank to prevent condensation from forming inside and corrosion. Add a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
4. Turn the Engine on every few weeks
Turn the Engine over every few weeks for 15 minutes or so, to help circulate fuel and oil in the car. This will also help prevent the battery from running flat. A battery conditioner on hand will also help to maintain your battery’s charge. If you are planning to store the car for an extended period you may wish to consider removing the battery to help improve its life cycle. This will help protect your Battery from the cold elements and ensure its in good working condition for the Spring.
5. Check Tyres
Inflate your tires to the recommended pressure and consider using Tyre supports like our TyreDox Set to prevent flat spotting on hard surfaces over the Winter months.
